MassMutual Pacific Advisor’s Volunteerism Helps Those Walking a Familiar Path
MassMutual Pacific advisor Jaime Villa struggled to achieve success in school while working 50 to 60 hours a week at a tortilla factory. His job at the factory allowed him to pay for 100% of his college tuition and books and to help his parents pay for household bills, but also contributed to a household income that denied him financial assistance. Jaime was also ineligible for financial aid and scholarships due to a lack of a high school education.
Jaime’s personal life experience led him to volunteer as a board member with the Latino Business Association (LBA) 7 years ago. “I joined this organization because I want to help young students accomplish their college dreams by giving them a little bit of financial help,” Jaime explained. “It is important for me to help those who are experiencing what I did.”
The Latino Business Association Annual Golf Tournament is a fundraising event put on by the LBA to raise funds for college students who need financial assistance. This year, MassMutual Pacific proudly sponsored the golf tournament as we have in years past. Our firm is inspired by Jaime’s story and we are committed to helping the diverse communities in the Bay Area and assisting students achieve their college dreams.
